Certified Drone Pilot (and educational technology guru!)

Peoria, AZ, USA

FAA-Certified in their Country?

Kim is a mother, wife, grandmother, educator, Part 107 certified drone pilot, and native Arizonan. She has always been a bit of a nerd, learning to code in Basic at age 11 with only a book and an Apple II. Her first career was in the airline industry, which led to a love for all things aviation. Combine the tech and aviation with a lifelong love of all things outdoor and some amateur attempts at photography/film making, well, becoming a certified drone pilot just made sense. Kim and her husband of 29 years are co-founders of Sunrise Aerial Imaging, LLC, a drone and 360 imaging company. Kim also shares her love of drones through her continued involvement in the world of education. Being a former CTE teacher, Kim is passionate about seeing drone education and certification programs being implemented in high school CTE courses across the US. She does small group training with educators and presents at educational conferences to increase awareness about the value of drones in education. She is even working to include drones in the high school grant program she oversees at Arizona State University. Kim loves using technology to ignite a passion for learning, specifically with underserved students. She hopes being a WWD brand ambassador will help her bring a love for drones and STEAM to more women and girls.
