OUR STORY
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Elena Buenrostro's drone journey began on the Great Wall of China where she hiked and documented her experience with her drone. From there, she discovered a whole new perspective and passion for aerial photography and videography which inspired Elena to study to become a Part 107 FAA Licensed Drone pilot. As she continued to fly and capture the world from above, several women along The Washington Post reached out asking Elena about women in the drone industry, how to get started and drone advice. This caused Elena to recognize the clear gender gap in the new industry.
As a result, out of a need to build more awareness, knowledge and connection with women and drones around the globe, in October 2017, Elena founded Women Who Drone®, an online female drone pilot community that inspires, educates and empowers women and girls with drone technology.
Through content curation, inspiration, drone education and career opportunities, Women Who Drone is helping pave the way for women in the growing drone industry.
